CHAMPIONSHIP PERFORMANCE

One of the seminal events in the ‘Battle of the Sexes’ was the tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs. On September 20, 1973, as the world watched in amazement, King silenced Riggs in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3. This victory convinced Billie Jean King that she wanted to, and could, change things – not only in tennis, but in every area of life. Tennis served as the stage for Billie Jean King to become the agent for social change that she is today.
